So, the overlanding movement and lifestyle is quite an interesting one. There are countless things that are necessities when going on any overland expedition. It doesn’t matter if it’s for a weekend, or several months. My question is, what do all of you think are the absolute “musts” for overlanding? Let me know what you think!

I think a definite neccessity would be recovery gear. tools, and first aid. Depending on the lenght of trip, food and water would also be very important.

Food storage is a must and has to be relevant to the trips time period. An elite cooler works for a weekend or a few days time, but will cause you to make frequent stops or unnecessary restocking compared to a 12V fridge. Both have there purpose and can be used to supplement each other. Trip planning is essential.

The thing to realize is that everyone’s needs will change, of course the basics will stay the same or similar. But you will find that with every trip you go on. what you really need and want are two different animals. I am constantly streamlining  my load out in the Jeep. Now I am really close, I have eliminated a lot of unnecessary bulky items, created space for necessities and have a much simpler and easier ways to access gear.
