Jeep Conquers Lions Back in Moab
The Lions Back is a sandstone ridge in Moab, Utah that is very popular among 4×4’ers. The attraction and campground is now private property and is no longer accessible by 4×4’ers except for this rare chance where the property owner gave Jeep special permission to do this one trip at the Easter Jeep Safari.
This year Jeep launched a 75th Anniversary Edition Wrangler called the Red Rock Edition Rubicon. It also happens to be the 50th Year of EJS!
The climb involves several hundred feet on a steep slope, and then a 5 to 9-point turn-around at the top of the rock before slowly descending the same way down.
The hill is known for an incident in which a Chevrolet Blazer 4X4 lost its brakes and rolled uncontrollably down the hill, plunging 30 feet to the ground. The accident was caught on home video and has been featured on multiple TV shows and YouTube.
